About me
The person
behind the pen
Hello! I'm Lauren — a Nottinghamshire-based calligrapher who believes that the most meaningful things in life deserve to be written beautifully. Something Written is my little corner of the world where craft, creativity and care all come together.
My story
How Something Written came to be
It started — as most good things do — with a bit of an obsession. A fountain pen gifted at Christmas, a YouTube tutorial watched at midnight, and suddenly I couldn't stop. Every spare surface in the house became a practice pad. Every wedding, birthday or celebration became an opportunity to create something by hand.
I've always believed that writing is one of the most intimate forms of communication we have. There's something irreplaceable about a handwritten letter, a name written with care, a quote that someone took the time to put on paper — just for you. It carries a warmth that no printer ever quite captures.
“I started Something Written because I wanted to give people something that would stay with them long after the moment had passed.”
What began as a hobby quickly became a calling. Something Written was born in Nottinghamshire, but the work goes far and wide — from wedding venues across the Midlands to corporate clients in London, and everyone in between.
Today, I work with couples planning their weddings, families marking milestones, interior lovers who want something beautiful on their walls, and businesses who understand the power of a personal touch. Every single piece is created by hand, one letter at a time, with full attention and genuine care.

What I believe in
The things that matter most
I don't rush. Every piece I create is given the time and attention it deserves. Good calligraphy can't be hurried — and I wouldn't want it to be. The patience behind the pen is part of what makes it special.
Handwriting is human. I love that no two letters are ever quite identical — that's the beauty of it. I create pieces that feel warm and alive, not sterile or over-worked. Imperfect in the best possible way.
Whether it's a wedding, a birthday or a business project, everything I make starts with you — your words, your vision, your story. I'm just the one who puts pen to paper. The meaning always comes from you.

Ready to create something beautiful together?
Whether you know exactly what you want or you're just at the “I have a feeling” stage, I'd love to hear from you. No enquiry is too big, too small or too out-there. The best work happens when we just start talking.
